Counselling

We have a small, friendly team of experienced Mental Health Social Workers that have been providing counselling services locally for over a decade, with more than 35 years of combined clinical experience. We are registered Medicare providers and provide the same treatment strategies as psychologists.  Alongside our work with adults, we specialise in working with children and adolescents.

With children and young people's consent, we routinely update parents/carers and involve them in parts of the sessions, informing them of tools and strategies they can utilise. We have also developed close partnerships with many local schools and other organisations in our efforts to support our clients.

We also provide feedback with brief but relevant diagnosis and presenting issues for review by the referring Medical Practitioners to ensure continuity of care for clients.

We believe that finding a suitable counsellor is about finding a good match for your needs. We work with you to clearly identify what support you need, and work together developing an appropriate treatment plan.

We focus on utilising creative tools and strategies with our clients to increase their coping, resilience, and skills. Our goal is for these things to be helpful, yet realistic strategies, that can be implemented to assist and maintain positive change. All of our therapeutic approaches are guided by standards of best practice, grounded within clinical research of evidence-based strategies.

We understand that coming to counselling is usually not considered a positive. Feelings of vulnerability, fear, and anxiety are often a part of the counselling process.  However, as our name depicts, we feel that counselling is a positive, yet often challenging pathway towards a "Happy Me". We feel privileged that our clients have chosen us to be a small part of their journey towards increased happiness. We can also include Christian Counselling aspects - but only at your request, and these are always guided by your own personal beliefs and comfort level.

We invite clients who are anxious, worried, or just want to find a good counselling match for themselves to contact us for a brief discussion. We especially encourage those who may be worried or resistant to attend counselling to contact us via your preferred method - phone, SMS or even email is ok! . We also have a helpful tip sheet with ideas of how to encourage young people to seek help from services. Often having some brief contact with us may help alleviate some of those concerns.
